Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I have to have a prescription for physical therapy?
A: Yes. The state of Michigan requires a physician's written and signed prescription for physical therapy in order for us to administer treatment. However, the State of Michigan allows a therapist to perform an evaluation along with providing treatment options without a prescription.

Q: How long is my prescription valid?
A: Your prescription is valid for up to 30 days from date of issue. This means you must begin treatment within 30 days from the date on your prescription.

Q: Will my insurance cover physical therapy at HealthQuest?
A: We do accept most insurances, including Blue Cross, Medicare and several others. When you call to schedule your appointment, our qualified staff will verify your insurance to determine your coverage. We cannot accept HAP or Blue Care Network insurances.

Q: Once my insurance does pay, how much will I owe?
A: Your costs will depend upon your insurance policy's deductible and co pays. Fortunately, we will contact your insurance company before your first visit to determine your benefits. We also encourage you to call and verify your insurance coverage to avoid any possible discrepancies.

Q: If I am injured on the job, does HealthQuest accept Worker's Compensation Insurance?
A: Yes, HealthQuest does accept Worker's Comp. Once we receive authorization from your employer for physical therapy, we can schedule your initial evaluation for treatment.

Q: I have a busy schedule, when are you open for treatment?
A: We have convenient hours of operation no matter your schedule. All of our facilities are open Monday thru Friday from 6am to 8pm and on Saturdays from 8am to 12 Noon.

Q: How long will it take before I can get an appointment?
A: In most cases we will have you scheduled within 24 to 48 hours of your first call.

A: Your will need to come with your signed written prescription from your physician, your driver's license, your insurance card(s), and appropriate attire. (see next question)

Q: What should I wear for therapy?
A: Please come prepared. You'll want to wear shorts or sweatpants, tennis shoes, and a loose shirt (such as a sweat or t-shirt, or in some cases a tank top for shoulder evaluations). We provide locks and lockers for your convenience.

Q: Who will I see for my appointments?
A: You will be seen and treated by a licensed physical therapist at every one of your appointments.

Q: How long will my appointments last?
A: The duration of each of your appointments depends upon your diagnosis, as well as the treatment recommendation of your physician and therapist. Typically you can expect to be in therapy for 1 - 2 hours per visit.

Q: Overall, how long will I be in therapy?
A: Again, the duration of your therapy treatment is based on several factors. These include your diagnosis, the number of visits recommended by your physician and therapist, your attendance, and your rate of progression during therapy. Treatment can range from 2 to 4 weeks or even up to 3 to 4 months, depending on these factors.
